LEEDS FORCE 79-88 SURREY SCORCHERS

Surrey Scorchers kept their nerve in the closing stages as they denied Leeds Force a first league win of the season.

Leeds Force 79-86 Surrey Scorchers (27-27, 44-46, 59-63)

Leading Scorers – Wanliss/Bennett 14, Bankevics 12 (Force) – Hicks 20, Ogedengbe 18, Robinson 15 (Scorchers)

Turning Point – As they did against Plymouth, Leeds made a strong start and led 44-38 before an 8-0 close to the half from Surrey. The visitors stayed ahead and looked in control at 70-80 before a 7-0 Leeds burst applied late pressure.

Key Stat – Leeds had 38 points off the bench including 14 from Tre Bennett on debut, but despite their improvement, the key stat will be their 0-4 league record as they still await that first win.

Game Hero(es) – Tony Hicks led the way for the Scorchers with a game-high 20 points and kept his composure down the stretch to seal the win from the foul line.
