PREVIEW: SCORCHERS FACE THE FORCE

Surrey Scorchers are on home court tonight for the second time this week as they welcome the Leeds Force and the BBC cameras to Surrey Sports Park.

The game is Scorchers’ second game of 2018 and will be showcased on BBC Sport Online from 7:30pm.

Scorchers defeated the London Lions in a New Year’s Day classic on Monday to start the year by ending a four game losing streak.

Meanwhile Leeds travel to Surrey having lost their previous eight matches, the most recent being a 105-53 thrashing by the Leicester Riders.

Scorchers will be in high spirits, having already beaten Leeds earlier on this season. Scorchers prevailed 86-79 behind a combined 38 points from Tony Hicks and Tayo Ogedengbe.

Scorchers also hold the advantage on the head-to-head between the sides, having won the previous three encounters.

Tony Hicks has called for a killer mindset from the team looking to defeat Leeds and start the year with back-to-back wins.

“It’s a must win.” said Hicks.

“Every game here at home is a must win, half the season is over, we are in the bottom half of the playoff picture so we need to take every game as a must win and it will hopefully propel us forward.”

With four teams all tied with seven wins in the BBL Standings, a win for the Scorchers could see them move into the top four.

Tickets are still available on the door for tonight’s game at Surrey Sports Park from as little as £14!
