WORCESTER WOLVES 77 SURREY SCORCHERS 78

Scorchers pick up their second win of the season in thrilling fashion against the Worcester Wolves.

Tayo Ogedengbe won the game for the Scorchers as he scored a lay-up with two seconds remaining to steal the game at the death.

A nail-biting fourth quarter, including an incredible three-point shot from Caylin Raftopoulos, helped Creon’s side pick up a much-needed BBL Cup win.

It was the home side who had the upper-hand in the opening quarter as they ran out to a 21-16 lead.

But Scorchers came racing back in the second quarter, as Adrian Kuyinu scored a lay-up at the half-time buzzer to give the away side the lead at the break.

The second half became a thriller as both teams traded blows, including some great offensive play from Marcus White and Chip Flanigan.

But it was the captain Tayo Ogedengbe who took over in the fourth quarter – draining multiple baskets to maintain the Scorchers lead.

Worcester fought back in the dying embers and took a narrow one-point lead with 12 seconds remaining.

But Tayo was on hand once again to drive to the hoop and converted a lay-up – which was called as a goaltending foul against former Scorcher Jordan Williams.

Worcester failed to score a game-winner with their final possession, giving Creon Raftopoulos’ side a much-needed win on the road.
