Scorchers battled back from a seven point deficit in thefinal quarter to defeat Cheshire Phoenix at Surrey Sports Park.

Lovell Cook led the Scorchers to victory with 18 points as Creon’s side end 2019 with three consecutive home wins.

Surrey raced out to a 25-21 lead in the first quarter thanks to a dominant display from Skyler White.

The aggression continued in the second period as new signing Devontavius ‘Uno’ Payne scored his first points for Scorchers.

Cheshire came firing in the third quarter thanks to an impressive display from Jalen Hayes.

But some impressive dunks from James Hawthorne and Tayo Ogedengbe kept Cheshire at bay.

The unbeaten Phoenix didn’t go down without a fight, and took a seven-point lead with five minutes to play in the game.

But Scorchers rallied once more thanks to James Hawthorne and Uno Payne, and handed Cheshire their first defeat in the BBL Championship.

Scorchers move to a 2-1 record in the BBL Championship heading into Christmas!
