Surrey Scorchers completed a 100% weekend win record with an 84-80 win over the Worcester Wolves at Surrey Sports Park on Sunday afternoon.
A cruising opening quarter saw the home side take a 28-17 lead into the first break, thanks to some hot shooting from Darryl Palmer and Gerald Robinson.
The Wolves looked better on the offence in the 2nd period but still Scorchers were looking powerful. Captain Tayo Ogedengbe landed a pair of consecutive dunks to keep the lead at 11 points, before his side extended the advantage to 15 at the end of the half (48-33).
Paul James’ Worcester side came out of the blocks flying in the 3rd, pulling the game back to within 3pts late in stanza, only for Robinson to land a killer 3pt shot on the buzzer to give Scorchers a 64-58 lead.
A tight final quarter followed but it was Scorchers who held out for the win, with US point guard Tony Hicks landing the clutch 2 to win the game in the dying seconds.
