Surrey Scorchers will head to the London Copper Box Arena this Sunday for the 2018 British Basketball All-Stars Championship.
The knockout tournament features the top eight placed teams from the BBL 2017/18 Championship, Scorchers placing a record high of 5th at the end of the season to secure their spot.
Having attained their first win of the season on the road to Manchester Giants last week, Creon Raftopoulos’ side will be hoping to build on their good form.
“A win is always a great energiser, so it made our preparations for the weekend ahead a lot easier.” Raftopoulos commented.
“All-Stars really plays into the way we like to play. We like to play up tempo anyway, and I think we have perfect guards in Quincy Taylor and Caylin Raftopoulos who take the ball up court really fast.”
With several new players joining Scorchers this season, Raftopoulos also spoke of the importance of the weekend as a chance to bring the team together.
“We want to have fun with the event and use it as a team building exercise, but at the same time the guys are competitive and would like to go as far as possible in the competition.”
“These events don’t come around often so I want us all to enjoy the experience, make the most of it, and play to win.”
With a potential £25,000 prize on the line, as well as some serious bragging rights, Scorchers will be determined to prove a point at All-Stars this Sunday.
If you want to watch Scorchers in action, you can still purchase tickets for the event here. Alternatively, all games will be shown live on Sky Sports Arena and Sky Sports mix from 1pm.
