SURREY SCORCHERS 111 – 94 CHESHIRE PHOENIX

A fantastic second-half performance meant Scorchers secured a 111-94 victory against the Cheshire Phoenix.

Five three-pointers in the third quarter helped Scorchers pull away from the BBL Cup champions and they never looked back.

Tony Hicks came alive in the second half and finished with 25 points and eight assists, while Tayo Ogedengbe added 21 points and four steals.

Scorchers remain unbeaten at home in 2018, with six wins in a row at Surrey Sports Park.

The game started as a low-scoring affair with Gerald Robinson leading the charge for the Scorchers, edging the quarter 20-19.

Ogedengbe carried the Scorchers in the second quarter with some tough defence and aggressive offence.
Scorchers went into the half-time interval with a narrow five-point lead.

The third quarter was a three-point barrage for the home side as they nailed five triples to break away from Cheshire.

Hicks scored 15 points in the quarter as Scorchers built a 14-point lead.

The threes continued to fall in the final period as Hicks and Alex Owumi continued the offensive affair.

Surrey Sports Park was on its feet as Scorchers secured their sixth straight home victory, and their second win of the weekend.

The victory moves Scorchers up to a 13-11 record after 24 games. They travel to Leeds Force next week in their only BBL fixture.
