Surrey Scorchers is delighted to announce the return of Josh Steel for the 2018/19 BBL Championship season.
Steel signs for his second season with Scorchers after a very successful rookie season in the BBL.
Mainly playing from the bench, Steel impressed with an average of ten points-per-game and is determined to make even more of an impact this season.
“Personally, I feel like I maybe turned a few heads last year, but this year I guess I want to make sure everybody is listening.” Said the shooting guard.
Head coach Creon Raftopoulos also believes he can make a step up this season: “Josh did a great job for us last season as our 6th man and I’m expecting even better things from him this year as he’s promoted to the starting shooting guard position.
“He’s had a good summer being part of Team GB’s training camp and more encouragingly he turned down a couple of fellow BBL clubs to re-sign with us.”
Steel joins Captain Tayo Ogedengbe and Quincy Taylor as players who will be returning to Surrey Sports Park this season, with Steel believing familiarity and momentum could be key this season.
Steel said, “I’m comfortable, there is a lot of familiar faces and I know how everything runs around here so I have a lot less to adjust to in comparison to last year.”
Steel will be looking to make a strong start to the season as Scorchers take on Glasgow Rocks in the opening night of the 2018/19 BBL Championship season.
