REPORT: PLYMOUTH RAIDERS 80-85 SURREY SCORCHERS

Jordan Williams scored 25 points with 10 rebounds as Surrey Scorchers defeated Plymouth Raiders 85-80.
Scorchers started slow and trailed by eight points at half-time before a second half comeback gave Scorchers the win.

Tony Hicks finished the game with 16 points while both Tayo Ogedengbe and Alex Owumi both finished with 11 points.

Brandon Penn top-scored for Plymouth Raiders, with 20 points while also picking up 10 rebounds.

The Raiders started the brighter side, leading 18-5 after the first five minutes of play, and the first quarter ending 25-17 to Plymouth.

The game finished 46-38 at half-time and Williams led the scoring for Scorchers with 11 points at the interval.

Creon Raftopoulos’s side started the third quarter well and Scorchers took the lead through an Alex Owumi three-pointer with just over three minutes of the quarter gone.

With Scorchers leading for the first time all game, a more positive performance came and they went into the final quarter level at 61-61.

Williams took the game by the scruff of the neck in the final quarter, scoring eight points to help Scorchers take the lead.

In a nervy final 20 seconds, Tony Hicks made four of four possible free-throws, giving Scorchers the victory.

The victory gives Scorchers three wins from their last four games, as they head into a BBL Trophy match vs Newcastle Eagles on Friday (8 December).
