PREVIEW: SCORCHERS TAKE ON ROCKS

Scorchers will look to continue their unbeaten run at Surrey Sports Park on Saturday, as they welcome the Glasgow Rocks to Surrey Sports Park.

Creon Raftopoulos’ side have won their last three home matches, defeating the London Lions, Leeds Force and the Plymouth Raiders.

The Rocks travel to Surrey Sports Park with unbeaten runs of their own, winning their last three matches, and their previous five home matches at the Emirates Arena.

Their last defeat in Scotland came against the Scorchers who defeated them 105-84 back in November behind a combined 54 points from Tony Hicks and Gerald Robinson.

Glasgow Head Coach Tony Garbelotto also leads the Team GB Men’s team, while their captain Kieron Achara also captains the GB and Scotland national teams, and represented Great Britain at London 2012.

Yesterday it was announced that no less than seven Glasgow players have been selected to represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Australia, with Achara and Gareth Murray headlining the squad.

Tayo Ogedengbe and Josh Steel are still in contention to represent England.

Both meetings so far between Glasgow and Scorchers have taken place in Scotland, with one win apiece.

This will be the only game between the sides at Surrey Sports Park this season.

Achara is the biggest threat for Glasgow, currently averaging 14 points and six rebounds per game as the Rocks sit third in the BBL standings with a 10-6 record.

Tony Hicks will be looking to continue his fine form in 2018. So far he has averaged 19.5 points, five assists and 2.25 steals as they have won three of four games in the new year.

A win for Scorchers would see their record move to 10-10.

Tickets are still available for Saturday’s game, which tips-off at 7pm!

Remember that tickets are cheaper when purchasing in advance rather than on the door and you can beat the queues.
