TAYO: HARD WORK PAYING OFF

Tayo Ogedengbe praised the hard work of his teammates as Scorchers beat Bristol Flyers and Cheshire Phoenix last weekend in the BBL.

Scorchers won 100-90 on the road in Bristol against the Flyers behind 31 points, eight assists and five steals from Tony Hicks. It evened the season series at 1-1.

Ogedengbe also added 18 points and three steals against Flyers, before adding 21 points against Phoenix on Sunday,

Scorchers returned to Surrey Sports Park on Sunday to defeat the Cheshire Phoenix behind a combined 74 points from Hicks, Ogedengbe and Alex Owumi.

The victories moved the Scorchers into the top four in the BBL Standings with a record of 13-11.

Ogedengbe said: “The scoring was good this week. We have been trying to execute early in games and it has been paying off.

“We definitely tried to force the fact that we are close with these teams, we made sure to make the extra effort in practice and in our preparation for these two games.

“It’s worked and paid off for us.

“Credit to my teammates who came out and made some big shots.”

Next up for Scorchers is a trip to Leeds Force on Friday night and they will be on the hunt for a fourth consecutive victory.
