Surrey Scorchers 94 Newcastle Eagles 104

Scorchers were defeated 94-104 by the Newcastle Eagles at SSP after a dominant performance from CJ Gettys.

The Eagles center scored 34 points and added 19 rebounds to out-score the Scorchers.

Skyler White scored a season-high 27 points for the home team.

The first quarter set the tone for the game with a feisty start, and James Hawthorne led the charge for Scorchers.

Eagles led 26-23 after one quarter, but turned on the engine in the second to take a double-digit lead – CJ Gettys leading that push.

Scorchers battled back in the second half thanks to Skyler and Adrian Kuyinu – winning the third quarter by three points.

But the Eagles continued to pile on the pressure.

An altercation between Skyler White and Sade Aded-Hussein sparked reactions from both teams at the end of the game – leading to James Hawthorne and Adrian Kuyinu being ejected for leaving the bench.

Hussein was also ejected from the game.

Eagles took the 104-94 victory, and Scorchers move to a 3-2 record in the BBL Championship.
