Surrey Scorchers 83 London City Royals 102

Scorchers are eliminated from the BBL Trophy following an 83-102 defeat to the London City Royals.

Royals took the lead early in the first quarter, and an impressive 42-point display from Matt Scott sealed the win for the Royals.

The London team raced out to a 26-12 lead in the opening quarter – as Matt Scott scored half of those points.

Scorchers got going in the second quarter thanks to Lovell Cook and Skyler White, but it was a double-digit deficit at the break.

A half-time team talk from Creon showed an improved display in the third quarter, as Uno Payne and Caylin Raftopoulos led the charge for Scorchers and reduced the gap to five points.

But it was Matt Scott who had the last laugh – taking over in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach for the Royals.

Scorchers are eliminated from the BBL Trophy in the opening round.

Despite losing in the trophy, we are still top 4 in the BBL Championship, and we need your support next Saturday as we take on the Newcastle Eagles!
