Steel Departs Scorchers

Surrey Scorchers can announce that Josh Steel will sign for the Spanish side Força Lleida in early January 2019.

Steel made his professional debut for Scorchers in the 2017/18 season. He averaged 12.69 points per game so far this season and seven rebounds.

Steel will not be available for selection for Surrey Scorchers on New Year’s Day as the club face new local rivals London City Royals at home for the first time.

Speaking to Steel on his departure, he wanted to address the Scorchers fans:

“I would like to say thank you to the organisation for helping me start my professional career and giving me an opportunity to have an important role in the team so that I am in a position to be even given opportunities like this. Thank you to the fans for your continued support during this season, last season and hopefully in the future. It has been a pleasure to play in front of everyone at the Sports Park.

As much as I would have liked to end my time with the club on a higher note, the opportunity to move my career forward was something I had to consider. The club has been nothing but understanding and I appreciate Coach Creon and the rest of the organisation for that.

Thank you, Scorchers”

We thank Steel for his services and wish him luck in the future.
