Scorchers sign Williams

Surrey Scorchers are delighted to announce the signing of GB U20s forward Jordan Williams.

Williams arrives in Surrey having spent the early part of this season with Belgian second division side KBBC Oostkamp on a short-term loan until December, having previously plied his trade with Duva Oostende in the same division and the Greenwich Titans in England.

The 6’8” Brit had been recovering from a knee injury sustained while taking part in a GB under-20s training camp last summer, but will now join up with the Scorchers squad in time for Friday night’s trip to the Newcastle Eagles (pending international clearance).

Coach Creon Raftopoulos said:“Jordan is a young, high energy, versatile English player with a strong body capable of playing as a guard or forward and can comfortably defend positions 2/3/4. He is also an aggressive rebounder on the offensive glass- an area we have to improve in.”

Following the signings of Jordan and Allie Fullah, which was announced yesterday, Coach Creon said: “We have been struggling as a team in recent weeks by not having enough experience, and even though Jordan and Allie don't have whole BBL seasons experience they are both guys that I feel will raise our defensive energy and commitment.”

Scorchers hit the road for tomorrow’s 7.30pm tip-off, before Wednesday’s BBL Trophy clash at Reading Rockets. Surrey return to the Sports Park on Sunday 24th January for a 3pm tip-off against the Worcester Wolves.
