Scorchers sign Guildford Heat legend Martelle McLemore!

Surrey Scorchers are delighted to announce the signing of Martelle McLemore for the 2020/2021 season!

The 32-year-old returns to Surrey after a seven year absence – previously suiting up for the Guildford Heat and Surrey Heat!

Martelle will be re-united with Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos, who signed him for the Guildford Heat a decade ago after an impressive collegiate career at Western Michigan University.

He spent the last four seasons playing in the NBL for the Thames Valley Cavaliers.

Last season, he averaged 21.8 points, 5 rebounds and 2.7 assists across 23 games.

He now returns to the BBL for the first time in seven years and will look to bring the Scorchers even more offensive firepower.

Martelle said: “I’m looking forward to being back at Surrey which has always felt like home whenever I’m there – let’s work!”

Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos added: “This signing is a very special one for me after bringing him in for his rookie year ten years ago.

“We’ve always kept in contact, the last Surrey Heat team he was on finished Top Four in the BBL.

“To bring him back is going to be a big plus for us.

“I think you get an all-around player in McLemore, he can play on both ends of the floor, he can score if you need him to.

“I have no doubt in my mind that he will be able to pick up where he left off.

“His competitiveness and ability to get buckets in the bubble was easy to see, so I’m delighted to bring him in.”
