Scorchers sign British guard Kyle Carey

Surrey Scorchers are delighted to announce the signing of Kyle Carey and welcome him to Surrey Sports Park

The London born wing has established himself in the BBL over the last few seasons. Carey first came onto the scene for the London City Royals when Cheshire Phoenix saw a spark in the young talent as he joined the side halfway through the 2020-21 campaign.

In only half a season Carey proved to be a pivotal player in the Phoenix Play-off push and was voted as their fan’s player of the year.

It was no surprise the North-West side would resign the former GB U20 as last season Carey continued this form averaging 6 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists with a season high against the dominant London Lions with 22 points.

The 6’6 wing only has a couple of seasons under his belt, however Carey already has the experience to understand what it takes to get to a final. Last season his Cheshire side went all the way and lifted the BBL Trophy in the Emirates Arena over the London Lions.

Now looking to continue his success with the Scorchers Carey said: “I’m really excited to be playing for the Scorchers this season!

Lloyd has coached me several times over the years, and I always enjoyed playing for him. The Scorcher’s fan base is top class, I’m looking forward to playing in front of them at SSP and helping this team have a great season!”

Scorchers Head Coach Lloyd Gardner commented: ” Despite still being young, Kyle is now an experienced player in our league.

In my view he has been improving year on year and I’m looking forward to working with him again. He has had a strong summer and I think set to take a step forward in his career”.
