Scorchers add McCray to roster

Surrey Scorchers is delighted to confirm the signing of US import Gabriel McCray.

The 22-year-old guard/forward graduated from South Carolina State University last summer, where he averaged 11.6 points and 4.8 rebounds during his senior season, including a career high of 23 points against Longwood University.

Previous to this McCray attended Prince George's Community College in Largo, Maryland where he was an NJCAA All-American averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds per game his sophomore season, landing him the Male Athlete of the Year Award.

After signing, Gabriel said: “I'm really excited about coming over and making an immediate impact on the team’s success. I believe I bring a lot of versatility and passion to the game that can be an asset to the Scorchers.”

With McCray potentially arriving in the UK this week, Coach Creon has high hopes of including him in his roster for Saturday evening’s vital home tie against the Leeds Force.

You can hear Creon’s thoughts on the signing in this week’s episode of Coach’s Corner, which will be release on Wednesday evening.
