Swedish international Andreas Schreiber has become Coach Raftopoulos’ fourth Surrey Scorchers signing ahead of the 2015/16 BBL season.
The 6”10’ power forward/centre arrives from Spanish 3rd division outfit Zornotza ST following a US college basketball career at the University of Pennsylvania.
Andreas featured in the BBL as recently as the 2013/14 season, featuring in the Worcester Wolves side which lifted the Championship trophy with a Play-off Final win over Newcastle Eagles with a 9.8 PPG average.
Schreiber has also featured in two BBL season at the Plymouth University Raiders.
Born in Santa Cruz, California, Schreiber moved to Sweden at a young age and therefore hold dual Swedish-US citizenship.
Following the signing, Coach Creon said: “Schreiber will be an important player for us. His BBL experience will be invaluable and he will bring knowledge from the Spanish game to pass onto teammates.
“I am really pleased about how the roster is shaping up. I am very close to securing a number of other players over the next week or so, giving us plenty of time to hit the court at a team and prepare for the season.”
The 28 year old will join captain Tayo Ogedengbe, Nick Schlitzer and DJ Felder as Coach Raftopoulos’ first signings, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
