Rolls-Tyson Joins Scorchers

Surrey Scorchers have signed 6ft 8 forward Solomon Rolls-Tyson from Cheshire Phoenix for the 2019-20 BBL season.

Rolls-Tyson played 37 games for Phoenix last season, having previously played 19 games for Sheffield Sharks in 2017-18. Although born in Birmingham, West Midlands, Sol completed his education in the United States, with NCAA Division 1 school University of North Dakota, having played for Utah State and Cleveland State in his Sophomore and Freshman years, respectively.

Sol said: “I am truly excited to pursue the opportunity of playing for the Surrey Scorchers. I am determined to contribute to the further success of the team, and hope my determination, skills and drive will make a great impact on the season ahead – one that the fans and community will be proud of.”

Scorchers Coach, Creon Raftopoulos, said: “We feel Sol’s skillset and athletic ability ticks all the boxes for the type of players we have signed this season. He is capable of playing and defending multiple positions, so can contribute on both ends of the court. He professionally played his role on a good Cheshire team, and we believe he will improve his production with an increase in his playing time.”
