Report: Schlitzer charge hands points to Scorchers

Surrey Scorchers boosted their BBL Play-Off hopes by outlasting Manchester Giants for a 96-82 home win on Friday.

It was a second consecutive triumph at Surrey Sports Park for Creon Raftopoulos’ men, who improved to a 5-6 record.

The hosts always appeared in control, maintaining the upper hand in the rebounding battle to control the tempo while their shooters found their range.

Nick Schlitzer got going in the second quarter, as Scorchers started to assert their dominance and finished with a team-high 22 points while KC Ross-Miller and Christian Behrens added 20 each.

It is a seventh defeat in a row for Giants.

Callum Jones did his best to keep them in contention, driving to the basket at every opportunity on his way to a game-high 27 points.

Yorick Williams’ men must find a way to lift themselves before welcoming Glasgow Rocks to Trafford Soccerdome on Sunday.
