Ogedengbe extends Scorchers Stay

Surrey Scorchers is delighted to announce that captain Tayo Ogedengbe has extended his contract with the club by one year.

The British forward was ever-present in the Scorchers line-up last season, starting 32 out of 33 BBL Championship fixtures after his return to Surrey last July.

His 13ppg average has earned him a place in Coach Creon’s side for the 2016/17 campaign, while retaining the role of captain as one of the league’s standout leaders.

After confirming his immediate future with Scorchers, Tayo said: “I am really happy to be playing for Surrey Scorchers again this season.

“Making sure that I was part of Coach Creon’s set up was a priority for me. I am already on court preparing for our first game so to know that my future will be Scorchers is a huge positive in my mind.”

Tayo becomes Coach Creon’s first summer signing, as he looks to build upon the strength of the club’s debut campaign which ended in April.

Coach Creon said: “Last season was a great experience for Tayo as a new captain in the BBL and I am looking forward to seeing him develop further as he continues his career.

“Fans love his spirit and ability and he has a great appreciation for basketball in the community and that is the kind of player we want at this club.”

Fixture and ticket news is due to be release in early July. Check back on the official Surrey Scorchers website or click here to sign up to our Fans’ Newsletter to get all of the news in your inbox first.
