The Scorchers face an away trip to local rivals London Lions this Wednesday looking to get back to winning ways following a 76-62 defeat to Leeds on Sunday.
Where: Copper Box Arena
When: Tip-off 19:30
The South East rivalry between the two clubs has not been too kind to the Scorchers, as they have only won one of the past five meetings. The last of these taking place on the opening night of this season where it finished 69-58 in the Lions favour. Previous results, however, mean very little in this business and with a place in the play-offs still firmly in their sights the Scorchers will be fighting for every point.
Last Sunday represented the Scorchers 10th league game this season, and they currently sit in 10th position in the league. That said, with the two teams above them in the table sitting on the same points as the Scorchers every game at this stage becomes vital.
The London Lions, on the other hand, have made a fast start to the season, winning five of their first six league matches, with the only defeat coming in their last game as they fell 101-86 to the Sheffield Sharks. The strong start to the season means they’ll be full of confidence in front of their home fans which should make for an exciting match.
Ones to watch
Omotayo Ogedengbe will be a player to watch from the Scorchers point of view as he hit an impressive 18pts vs. Leeds Force on Sunday including going 7-14 on Field Goals. While Chaz Rollins, Quincy Taylor and Will Neighbour all have over 100pts each this season, with the latter top scoring on 136.
The Lions top scorer Rashad Hassan will surely be one to keep an eye on as he has already scored 122pts from his first six matches this season, while Kai Williams currently sits on 96pts, so he’ll be expecting to break the 100pt mark.
