London Lions 109 Surrey Scorchers 90

Surrey Scorchers were defeated 109-90 against the London Lions at the Copper Box.

Creon Raftopoulos’ side started strongly but the depth of the Lions quickly showed itself as they took control of the game in the second half.

Tony Hicks led the way for Surrey with 23 points and six assists, while Lacey James continued his impressive form with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The game started in a fast-paced fashion as both teams traded baskets.

Connor Cashaw and Lacey James were scoring freely for Surrey, while Dirk Williams controlled the offence for the home team.

Cameron Hildreth checked into the game and hit a half-court buzzer beater at the end of the quarter to give Surrey a two-point lead after ten minutes.

Deandre Liggins made his presence felt in the second quarter as he dished out five assists as Kevin Ware and Williams continued to score at will.

A 6-0 run at the end of the second quarter for Scorchers reduced the lead to six points heading into the half-time break.

The home team stamped their authority on the game at the beginning of the second half with a 13-1 run, as Lions captain Joe Ikhinmwin knocked down multiple three-point shots.

London extended their lead into double-digits heading into the final quarter.

Tony Hicks continued to pour in points during the fourth quarter alongside Emondre Rickman and Connor Cashaw, but it was too much for Surrey to reduce the deficit.

London cruised through the final few minutes to win 109-90 on their home floor.

Surrey are back in action on Friday night as we host the Plymouth Raiders at Surrey Sports Park.
