Johnson signs for Scorchers

Surrey Scorchers are delighted to announce the signing of US import guard Timothy ‘TJ’ Johnson Jr.

6’3” TJ, who is a graduate of The George Washington University and SIU-Edwardsville, brings professional experience to the roster having featured for Premier Basketball League (PBL) outfit Lake Michigan Admirals during the 2014/15 season where he scored a 9.3ppg average.

Following his signing, Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos said: “I’m excited to welcome TJ to our team, who brings a great basketball pedigree into the roster.

“Not only is he good on defence, which we have been looking to improve, he is also exciting on the break making him a great player to watch and for fans to interact with.

“His age and experience will bring maturity to the team and he will also play a big part in our community programme, with the sort of personality that we want to sign for the current and the future at Surrey Scorchers.”

Scorchers fans will get their first chance to watch TJ in action this Sunday when Scorchers host the Worcester Wolves at Surrey Sports Park.
