Scorchers continued their impressive start to 2018 with an 87-79 victory against the Glasgow Rocks last Saturday
Tony Hicks put on a show for the home crowd with 28 points and nine assists, while Gerald Robinson added a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Creon Raftopoulos’ side have won all four of their home matches in 2018 as they continue their march up the BBL Standings.
Hicks expressed the importance of the win, should the Scorchers and Rocks be level in the BBL standings come the end of the season:
“It’s important because we are two of those teams who are in the middle of the pack right now.” said Hicks.
“It was important for us to get the tie-breaker in terms of playoff standings.”
“It’s good to get wins at home. If you win your home games you’re definitely going to win more than you lose across the entire season.”
The game once again saw a packed Surrey Sports Park, with the people of Guildford embracing the team and enjoying their impressive string of victories at the ‘Dragons Den’. Hicks was voted the ‘Player Of The Game’ on twitter after yet another tantalising display.
He has called for more of the same from Scorchers fans going forward.
“Keep coming. This is a great advantage for us. This is a great Sports Park and we appreciate all of the support.”
