Glasgow Rocks 102 Surrey Scorchers 81

Scorchers were defeated by the Glasgow Rocks at the Emirates Arena.

Greg Pryor led the way for the home team with 29 points.

A career-high 27 points from Uno Payne wasn’t enough to stop the Scorchers losing on the road.

It was the Rocks who started the game on the front foot, with a free-flowing offence and tough defensive display, giving them a comfortable 35-13 lead after the first quarter.

They didn’t slow down in the second quarter, and some tough offence from Gareth Murray maintained a 19-point lead at half time.

An effective team talk from Creon Raftopoulos looked to have made a big impact, as Lovell Cook and Uno Payne kick-started the Scorchers offence.

Back-to-back three point shots from Caylin Raftopoulos reduced the lead to nine points at the end of the third – Scorchers winning the quarter by ten points.

But Glasgow took control of the game once again, and they extended their lead once again to claim the 102-81 victory.

Scorchers fall to a 4-4 record in the BBL Championship.

Next up for Creon’s team is a trip to ‘The Tank’ to take on the Sheffield Sharks next Friday.

Scorchers are back at home on February 8th as we host the Leicester Riders.
