Surrey Sports Park host Wake Forest v Barking Abbey Academy

NCAA Division 1 Wake Forest head to the UK for their pre-season tour throughout the 2nd and 5th of August. In preparation for their 2022/23 campaign, they will face off with some of British Basketballs top prospects in an exhibition game against Barking Abbey Academy at Surrey Sports Park.

Familiar faces return to SSP as former Scorchers player Cameron Hildreth is back in town. The rising star finished with Surrey Scorchers at the end of the 2020/21 season to continue his career after committing to Wake Forest men’s basketball programme.

Hildreth is not the only Brit to be coming home to play in front of family and friends. A product of Reading Rockets junior programme, 7’1 Matthew Marsh also joined Wake Forest after spending time in FC Barcelona youth programme and ASVEL’s youth squad in the French Pro-A/Jeep Elite league.

Surrey Sports Park Managing Director Gavin Baker commented “What better way to promote basketball in Surrey than the opportunity to showcase some of British Basketballs top young talent.

We are really looking forward to welcoming Cam back and seeing his growth over the last year. I’m sure the Scorchers fans as well as British basketball fans will be happy to see him.”
