Scorchers add American Desmond Ringer to the squad

Surrey Scorchers are delighted to announce the signing of forward Desmond Ringer for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.

The 28-year-old will be joining Scorchers with big shoes to fill after the exit of Saiquan Jamison earlier this month.

The Mercer University forward spent his first full season playing pro in France NM2 for Niort Basket where he would average 9.4ppg, 10.6rpg whilst shooting 50% from the 3-point line.

This season Ringer has spent time in Germany-Regionalliga where he has put up 20.6ppg and 11.7rpg.

Delighted to welcome Ringer to the team Coach Raftopoulos commented “We had to move as quick as we can to replace Saiquan who hit the ground running in the BBL.

“Unfortunately, his season came to a close, but with Demond coming in he will bring experience to the team. We hope we is going to help us at both ends of the floor for the rest of the season.”

Looking forward to getting going with the squad Desmond added “I’m very excited to sign with the scorchers. I’m thankful for the opportunity and want to help the team win games.

“I’m going to bring my energy on both sides of the floor, I can shoot the three really well so I can space the floor and do what I got to do to get us some wins.

“I will be bringing versatility to the team. I’m a skilled big that can play inside and out. I have nice touch on my jumper, and I think my skill set would be great in this league.

“After speaking with coach, I like his vibe. He seems like a good guy. I’m excited to get to work with him and to be able to get to know him a little better while I’m here as well.”
