Abdul Mohamed added to Scorchers’ roster

Canadian swingman Abdul Mohamed is set to make his first appearance in the British Basketball League as he joins Surrey Scorchers roster for the 2023/24 season.

The swingman joins from German Pro-A side Bayer Giants Leverkusen, where he averaged 5.8 points per game.

During his three collegiate seasons, whilst studying at the University of North Texas, Mohamed averaged 6.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists, while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 42.3 percent from the three-point line.

Standing at 6ft 7’’, Scorchers’ new swingman then went on to play for Montana State University in 2020 before he returned to Canada and made his professional debut with Montreal Alliance at the start of 2022.

I’m very excited and thrilled for the opportunity to continue my basketball career with Surrey Scorchers! It’s going to be an exciting year and I’m eager to get to work with everybody involved.

Abdul Mohamed

Abdul is another versatile player to add to our front line. We are excited to have him join us. He’ll be able to bring an offensive skill set that will compliment the team we have put together. He has an ability to shoot the ball, moves well and is an active rebounder. He will help us defensively in a variety of ways. He has already had European experience and we are hoping that he takes a step forward in his career with the Scorchers.
