Worcester Wolves 84 Surrey Scorchers 77

Scorchers suffered defeat on the road as we were beaten 84-77 by the Worcester Wolves live on Sky Sports.

Matt Newby’s Wolves secured the head-to-head against Creon’s side with a win at the University of Worcester Arena.

Former Scorcher Jordan Williams dominated with 18 points and 11 rebounds for Worcester, while Ryan Richards led the scoring with 21 points for Surrey.

Scorchers started the game with a 10-2 run led by Richards, but Worcester were quick to reply with a 15-0 run of their own to turn the game on its head.

Surrey stepped up in the second quarter with some of their best basketball of the season, as Cameron Hildreth and Connor Cashaw took control of the game.

Creon Raftopoulos’ side led by nine points at the interval.

Worcester Wolves rallied at the beginning of the second half as they forced multiple turnovers.

Jordan Williams and Brandon Anderson pulled the home side back to within one point heading into the final quarter.

Ryan Richards continued his impressive offensive performance down the stretch with multiple jumpshots, but Maarten Bouwknecht and Anderson stepped up once more to take the lead for Worcester.

Surrey were unable to match the impressive offence from Worcester, and failed to convert from the free-throw line.

Anderson was forced to the line on multiple occasions and converted to ensure Worcester took the 84-77 win on their home floor.

Scorchers are back in action tomorrow night as we host the Glasgow Rocks. Tip-off is at 7pm, and Scorchers can watch the game on BBL Player.
