Surrey Scorchers are delighted that Henry Wilkins has signed a new contract for the 2019-20 BBL season.
The Guildford-born 28-year-old returns for his second consecutive season at the Sports Park Arena, and third overall, having previous played in Spain and Austria, as well as at Leeds Force.
The shooting guard, who last season averaged 18.9 minutes, 3.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, has also played a major role in the Scorchers community programme, and said: “I’m extremely happy to be back with the Scorchers. We’ve worked hard all summer long and I can’t wait to get started on what is hopefully a very successful season.
“The main objective coming in is to become a Play-Off team again, as Scorchers have been in the past, and personally just to improve upon my performance. I wasn’t happy with my performances last year, it was a difficult season for everybody – and definitely for myself – so a big improvement is the aim.”
“Henry was hampered by injuries for a big part of last season but has worked hard this off-season to prepare for a good year,” continued Coach Creon Raftopoulos. “We know his shooting and scoring capabilities can help us, and his energy also gets our great fans going.
“Off the court Henry will continue to play an instrumental part in our community program and this year takes the lead as University of Surrey first team coach.”
