Surrey Scorchers Academy look ahead to second season.
Following the first successful season of the Surrey Scorchers Three Rivers Academy, Head Coach, Creon Raftopoulos, reflected on their first season in the ABL.
“Our first year was a huge success for our Basketball Academy partnership with Three Rivers Academy. Coach Crane and the students did a great job representing both Surrey Scorchers and Three Rivers in the ABL.
“I witnessed the team’s development from the start of the season right to the end with Academy players Liam Barker, Jack Fettes, Kane Kenyon and Triston Smith all earning spots on our BBL roster.”
Raftopoulos went on to praise the partnership with Three Rivers Academy ahead of the 2018/19 season in their newly built sports facility.
“Our partnership with Three Rivers grows from strength to strength, with a great working relationship between the coaches and educational staff making sure our players get the best Student Athlete experience.
I believe the programme we offer is of the highest quality as not many places can offer young elite players the opportunity to practice and develop around established professional players. We also have a team of coaches who have experience at all levels of basketball working with our Academy.”
The Surrey Scorchers Basketball Academy will be running an open day to give young players the opportunity to trial for their spot in next year’s Academy team. The details are as follows:
Saturday 30th June
