Evan Walshe and Dre Rickman guided the Scorchers through the opening quarter, and after a high-scoring ten minutes Surrey led 24-22.
Creon’s side then put on the clamps and some impressive defence from Lacey James, Tayo Ogedengbe and Martelle McLemore held the visitors to just ten points in the second period.
Some impressive scoring from Cameron Hildreth and Ryan Richards, as well as a half-court buzzer beater from Tayo Ogedengbe gave Scorchers a double-digit lead at the break!
Surrey continued their impressive performance into the third quarter as Ryan Richards and Tayo Ogedengbe led the scoring.
Solent weren’t going down without a fight, as Ian Smith and Andre Arissol scored at will for the travelling team.
Scorchers continued to lead by double-digits heading into the final period.
Surrey used their experience to slow down the clock during the fourth quarter, as Creon’s side held their nerve to win 82-73 on their home floor.
