Surrey Scorchers 75 Worcester Wolves 77

Scorchers couldn’t complete the weekend double-header as the visiting Worcester Wolves steal the win in the closing minutes.

Jordan Williams came back to SSP to haunt his former side as he scored 22 points and added 16 rebounds.

Ryan Richards led the way for Surrey with 19 points off the bench.

It was the travelling Wolves who started strongest, racing out to a double-digit lead in the opening few minutes of the game.

Scorchers held their nerve and quickly clawed back into the game through Ryan Richards and Lacey James.

Surrey turned the game on its head in the second quarter, winning the period 28-13 thanks to some outstanding offence from Ryan Richards.

Scorchers took a four-point lead into the half-time interval.

Creon Raftopoulos’ side continued to control the game in the third quarter, extending their lead to nine points as Tayo Ogedengbe continued the charge for Surrey.

Foul trouble for the Scorchers caught up with them in the final quarter, as they were in the bonus just two minutes into the period.

Worcester took full advantage getting to the free-throw line, as Brandon Anderson and Jordan Williams dragged Worcester back into the game.

They eventually took the lead through Anderson with 40 seconds to play in the game, which proved too much to overcome for the home side.

Worcester steal a 77-75 victory on the road, as Scorchers drop to 3-8 in the BBL Championship.
