Surrey Scorchers 73 Plymouth Raiders 84

Scorchers suffered a second successive defeat at the hands of the Plymouth Raiders at Surrey Sports Park.

Creon Raftopoulos’ side were unable to make a late comeback in the fourth quarter to turn the game on its head, as former Scorcher Michael Ochereobia dominated with 19 points.

The Scorchers got off to a terrific start as they led 21-13 after the opening quarter.

It was an impressive opening to the game from former Plymouth Raider Rashad Hassan, who was hoping to gain some revenge against his former club.

But the Raiders flipped the game on its head in the second quarter thanks to a dominant period from GB international Ashley Hamilton.

It was the travelling team who led by six points at the interval.

Creon’s side weren’t going down without a fight, and an impressive spell from British rookie Evan Walshe clawed Surrey back into the game.

But a run from the Raiders in the fourth quarter extended the lead back to double digits.

Scorchers were unable to stop the rampant Ochereobia as he took control of the fourth quarter, while Skyler White and Ashley Hamilton were each ejected from the game after picking up technical fouls.

Plymouth controlled the final few minutes and won the game 84-73.

Scorchers are back in action on Sunday afternoon as we travel to Plymouth for the reverse fixture in BBL Cup Group 1.
