Sheffield Sharks 81 Surrey Scorchers 76

Scorchers were narrowly beaten by the Sheffield Sharks on the road.

Matthew Bryan-Amaning impressed in his Scorchers debut – scoring 10 points and adding 5 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Lovell Cook led all Scorchers scorers with 18 points.

It was the Sharks who started the game strongly and pulled out to an early lead.

But it wasn’t long before MBA checked into the game and made his mark with two emphatic dunks.

Scorchers fought back in the second quarter thanks to strong team offence, and the gap was reduced to five points at half time.

The second half was a game of runs, as Scorchers reduced the game to two points, before Sheffield built the lead back up to double-digits.

Back-to-back triples from Skyler White brought the game back to a single-point, but another Sheffield run extended the lead to six points.

Heading into the final seconds, Lovell Cook hit a big three-point shot to tie the game.

But it was Sharks captain Mike Tuck that drained a triple of his own to re-gain the Sharks lead.

Scorchers were forced to foul, and Sheffield won the game by five points.

Creon’s team are back on the road next Friday as we take on the Plymouth Raiders.

Our next home game is on Saturday 8th February as we host the Leicester Riders – get your tickets HERE
