Scorchers Welcome Stanley Davis Jr

Surrey Scorchers are delighted to announce the signing of Stanley Davis Jr. for the 2021/2022 season.

The 22-year-old makes his debut in the British Basketball League after a season in European side Vllaznia Shkoda in the Albania Superleague.

Davis was a driving force in pushing his Albanian side to a semi final playoff game averaging 18.5 points and shooting an impressive 43% from behind the arc across the season.

Prior to heading to Europe, the Pennsylvania native attended NCAA D1 Morgan State where he averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in his senior year.

Davis is a big guard standing at 6’5 with a long athletic frame, his size enables him to play above the rim on offence as well as contain and lockdown on defence.

Coach Creon is looking forward to seeing Stanley in a Scorchers jersey commenting “We have had some exciting point guards lead the Scorchers in KC Ross-Miller, Quincy Taylor and Tony Hicks.

“Stanley comes in quite different to all our past point guards, he’s a player who likes to pressure the ball from 40ft and leads on defence, an area that is a key focus for us this season.

“He is super athletic and uses this to his advantage against smaller guards. I’m sure Stanley will take no time becoming a fan favourite and I’m excited to have him on our roster.”

Davis excited to arrive added “I’m feeling good with signing with the Scorchers.

“I feel as though it is a great opportunity to play under Coach Raftopoulos, I believe he’s very knowledgeable and understanding.

“I can’t wait to help the team grow and achieve great things. I’m ready to get to work and get the ball rolling. With this experience I’m hoping to learn, grow and show the UK what Stanley Davis Jr. can do. Simple.”
