Scorchers take a big home victory over Glasgow

The Surrey Scorchers raised the roof at Surrey Sports Park as they welcomed Glasgow Rocks for the second time this season. With recent improved performances and now a full squad for the first time this year, you could see the impact made having a 12-man squad.

There was nothing to separate the two teams in the first quarter as Jacdomni opens the scoring for Glasgow and captain Tayo kicks the Scorchers of with a 3 pointer.

Glasgow followed Giants scouting report from last weekend and looked to take leading scorer Davis Jr out of his rhythm early. Rocks athletic wing Harris would have the assignment to face guard Davis JR denying him easy touches.

Sharpshooter Hillsman put Glasgow in front after a 3 pointer, Devin Thomas would reply with one of his own to tie the game 12-12. Jules Dang-Akoko checks in the game for the first time since injury to give Davis Jr a much-deserved rest as the Scorcher lead 24 – 21.

Sol Rolls-Tyson started the 2nd quarter gaining his opening minutes as a scorcher and nailing his first 3-pointer. The newcomer then follows this with offensive boards and put back to grab a quick 5 points off the bench.

Desmond Ringer leading scorers with 6 added to the action with a turnaround jumper in the paint forcing a time out from Glasgow as Scorchers lead by 7.

Glasgow up the energy and forced Scorchers into multiple turnovers and scoring in transition to tie the game back up.

Davis Jr finished the half strong with a floater for his first points of the game followed by an assist to Wanliss on the pick and roll. Scorchers lead by 4 heading into the locker room.

Lamar Hamrick began the 2nd half with a steal on defence and strong finish in the lane as he explodes out the locker room with energy. Hamrick continues to take over the third as he followed this play up with a penetration and dish to Ringer for an easy 2.

As Scorchers jump out to a 9-point advantage, Johnson settles Glasgow with a shot from deep to keep them within striking distance.

Stanley Davis Jr demonstrated sharing is caring as he would find Ringer, repeatedly sharing the ball as he would end his night shy of a triple double including 12 assists.

A huge roar for Henry Wilkins checking in the game for the first time with 5 minutes to go as the Guildford native returned from injury.

As the clock ran down to finish the 3rd quarter, it would become the Desmond ringer show. Glasgow struggled to find rhythm on offense as Scorchers kept the tempo high as the home side head into the final quarter with a 7-point advantage.

After a few offensive mistakes early on Scorchers catch fire after a huge shot from captain Tayo Ogedengbe giving the Scorchers their biggest lead of the game with 12 points.

With 6 minutes left Glasgow switch to a full court press to see if they can cut down the deficit. Scorchers try to extend their lead but player-coach Murray would hit a 3 pointer to bring the game within 7 points with 3 minutes to go.

As Glasgow applied the pressure the home fans of Surrey would spur on the team to see out the game. In the final minute Scorchers steal the ball leading to a flying Hamrick to hammer home the victory and put an exclamation mark on the win.

Final Score 95-86
