Surrey Scorchers is delighted to welcome British centre Michael Ochereobia to the roster ahead of the 2016/17 British Basketball League season.
27-year-old Michael, affectionately known as ‘Big Mike’, spent his US college career with the Western Illinois Leathernecks where he notched a 8.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game average, while topping up his 58 career blocks in two seasons record.
The 6’8” big man kicked off his pro career two years ago, signing for Enfants Du Feurs en Forez in the French National League 2, before moving to Besancon in the same division last season.
Following the signing, Coach Creon Raftopoulos said: “Mike is a true leader and that’s the sort of player we want in our roster at Surrey Scorchers.
“He will bring two years of pro experience to the club which will be valuable to us and the players around him.”
Ochereobia joins Tayo Ogedengbe and Kalil Irving in the growing Scorchers roster, which is set to grow once again later this week as more players commit to the club for the upcoming season.
