Scorchers sign Neighbour

Surrey Scorchers Coach Creon Raftopoulos has added former GB U20 international Will Neighbour to his roster.

Neighbour graduated from NCAA outfit University of Arkansas at Little Rock last summer, where he averaged 16.3 points per game in his senior year- just one of six players to have racked up over 1000 points and 500 rebounds with the Trojans.

The 6’10” forward went on to sign his first professional contract with Spanish second division side Oviedo following his graduation, where he featured alongside fellow Scorchers player Andreas Schreiber.

Upon his signing, Coach Raftopoulos said: “I have been in constant contact with Will, either through training with myself or while he has been playing in some top summer leagues in China and Australia.

“It was an easy move for him. He’s a local lad and he wanted to play for the club more than we had to chase him. The facilities, strength and conditioning team and physio options available to him at Surrey Sports Park were a major factor in his decision to sign.

“The fact that we can sign players of this calibre shows the direction that Scorchers is taking in the BBL.”
