SCORCHERS DUO SELECTED FOR ENGLAND

Surrey Scorchers players Tayo Ogedengbe and Josh Steel have both been called up to the Team England’s first preparation camp for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas has named 24 players, with 20 currently plying their trade for teams in the BBL.

Both Ogedengbe and Steel have previous international experience, with the former already having represented England at international level.

Steel has represented England at Under 16 and Under 18 level before representing Great Britain Under 20’s at the European Championships this summer.

Kapoulas, who is also Head Coach of Bristol Flyers, has stated his happiness at the players at his disposal.

“We have a solid mixture of youth and experience and it's very pleasing to see a number of players who have been involved in the England pathway now getting the opportunity to represent England at the senior level.”

Kapoulis and his squad will meet up later this month for their first camp with the players on this list invited to attend.

Moving into 2018, there will be a further camp in February before a final roster of 12 players needs to be confirmed in late February before April’s Games.

The Men will open Pool B play against Scotland on 5 April before further games against India on 7 April and Cameroon on 8 April.

You can watch Ogedengbe and Steel in action this Sunday as Surrey Scorchers take on the Manchester Giants at Surrey Sports Park
