Scorchers bolster backcourt with addition of Connor Cashaw

Surrey Scorchers are delighted to announce the signing of Connor Cashaw for the 2020/2021 BBL season.

The 23-year-old makes the switch to Surrey Sports Park after an impressive rookie season in the BBL – leading the Sheffield Sharks in scoring last term.

The 6’5 Guard spent the majority of his college career at Rice University, before transferring to highly touted Creighton University for his Senior year.

After graduating, he made the move to Yorkshire and signed for the Sheffield Sharks – averaging 16.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in his rookie year.

He now joins Creon Raftopoulos’ exciting team and will look to build on an impressive first season in the UK.

Delighted to have signed, he said: “I’m excited to be officially signed with the Scorchers for the 2020/2021 season.

“I can’t wait to get to Surrey and get to work with my teammates.

“We have a lot of talent and versatility throughout the roster, and we fully expect to compete for trophies this season.”

Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos added: “Having watched Connor perform last year, I was really impressed with his all-around game.

“With the roster we are putting together he compliments all of the attributes we need in the Guard position.

“Speaking to Connor he is willing to take on the role as a Combo Guard.

“I see him as being one of our dominant ball handlers, but as everybody knows Scorchers like to get up and down the floor.

“A lot of people will question us signing a lot of scorers, but we have a mature group of guys, everybody will buy into what we do.”
