The Surrey Scorchers have acquired experienced British Forward Dean Wanliss on a short-term deal.
The 32-year-old has been training with the team since the beginning of January, and will add depth during a busy schedule for Creon Raftopoulos’ side.
Wanliss has a wealth of British Basketball experience, having previously played for Manchester Giants, Leeds Force and Worcester Wolves in the BBL, as well as Kent Crusaders and Loughborough Riders in the NBL.
He also spent time in Creon’s Bubble during the summer of 2020, before most recently spending time in Spain playing for Avila in the Liga EBA.
Scorchers Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos said: “I’m pleased to have signed Dean on a short-term deal.
“He is a hard working player and has brought energy to our practise with his willingness to motivate his teammates.
“It is a quality which I’m sure will translate to keeping our energy up in games.
“With our loaded schedule ahead we needed to add extra depth to our roster.”
Dean has travelled with the Scorchers to Glasgow and will suit up tonight for our BBL Championship clash with the Rocks live on Sky Sports!
