Surrey Scorchers is delighted to announce the signing of American guard Nick Schlitzer from Philadelphia University Rams.
Schlitzer, 22 was named Most Valuable Player of the 2015 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship (NCAA Division 2) and played a key role in Philadelphia University Rams being crowned 2015 CACC Champions.
The 6’6” shooting guard is a swing type player and was the second highest scorer for the Rams this season, averaging 17.3 points per game while shooting 47.4% from the field and 36% from three. In addition, he has averaged 5 rebounds a game and contributed a career high 80 assists.
He has scored 1,644 points in his career, leaving Schlitzer 15th on the Philadelphia University all-time list.
Coach Creon Raftopoulos said: “We’re very pleased to get this deal over the line. Nick is an intelligent player who will be able to make smart decisions and score quickly for the team. He’s a good size, physical shooting guard and will no doubt bring a lot of energy to the court.”
Scorchers fans will first get to see Nick in BBL action at Surrey Sports Park against Champions Newcastle Eagles on Friday 25 September.
