Scorchers return Sol Rolls-Tyson for the remainder of the BBL season

Surrey Scorchers are delighted to announce the signing of forward Sol Rolls-Tyson for the remainder of the 2021/2022 season.

The 27-year-old will be joining Scorchers again where he previously played for a short stint in 2019.

The 6’8 forward brings with him BBL and international experience where he averaged 8.3 points in Norway and 10.5 points in Spain.

Upon returning to the UK and debuting in the BBL in 2017, Rolls-Tyson joined the Sheffield Sharks followed by a short-stint here at Surrey before two seasons with the Cheshire Phoenix averaging 15 points and 9 rebounds in the cup.

Most recently Sol played with Derby Trailblazers in Division 1. During his time with Derby Rolls-Tyson averaged 29 points and 8 boards in the L Lynch Trophy which Derby would go on to win.

Delighted to welcome back Sol to the team Coach Raftopoulos commented “With the signing deadline coming to an end, and the ongoing injury crisis we have had this season, it was important to add depth to our squad.

“It is difficult to find UK players with BBL experience at this stage in the season so I am happy to have picked up a quality player in Sol that has been within the league and can bolster our squad.

“Sol will look to slot into the team whilst he continues his career as an Elite Athlete Educational Officer.

Excited to return Rolls-Tyson said: “I am really looking forward to returning to the Sports Park, I have always felt like I had unfinished business under Coach Raftopoulos and the Scorchers.

“It will be great to be back in the BBL competing against the top competition across the UK. Having seen what Scorchers have gone through this season I am grateful for the opportunity to bring my game to this team and strengthen the squad.”
