REPORT: SURREY SCORCHERS 95-70 MANCHESTER GIANTS

Alex Owumi’s inspired performance from behind the arc lead the Scorchers to a convincing 95-70 victory against the Manchester Giants in the BBL Championship
Owumi scored six times from behind the arc in an impressive shooting display for the Scorchers.

The victory brought a four-game losing streak to a grinding halt, meaning Scorchers have just one home defeat so far this season.

Tony Hicks also finished the game with 20 points, while Tayo Ogedengbe scored 19.

The game started evenly with both teams trading baskets early on.

Owumi opened his scoring account with eight points in the first period. The quarter ended all tied up at 25-25.
Scorchers took charge in the second quarter, with an array of three’s from Josh Steel, Caylin Raftopolous and Owumi.

Scorchers ended the half with a comfortable 51-41 lead and did not slow down as the second half got underway
Jordan Williams led the charge with multiple offensive rebounds and an array of dunks.

Owumi continued his three point barrage to maintain the lead and the home side finished the third period with an 11 point lead.

In the fourth the Scorchers never looked back. Tony Hicks put on a show with dunks, blocks and steals leading the side to a convincing 25 point victory.

The starters combined for 75 points, which was a season high and Scorchers held on for their biggest winning margin of the season.
