Report: Scorchers take points in cross-border clash

Surrey Scorchers inflicted a second loss of the weekend on Glasgow Rocks as they recorded an impressive 75-89 road win.

Tayo Ogedengbe netted a game-high 27 points to inspire the win over his former side as Surrey moved level on points with Bristol Flyers, in 8th spot.

The Rocks started well with Gareth Murray scoring five points in an early 9-0 run as the home side established a 26-18 advantage after 10 minutes.

Surrey took the lead with an 8-0 run to make it 29-30 in the second, but found themselves down six by the half-time break.

The hosts led by as many as eight at 58-50 as they threatened to pull clear only for the visitors to produce a 10-2 close to cut the gap.

Gabe McCray fired the Scorchers ahead as they seized control by holding the Rocks to five points in the opening five minutes of the fourth. And, Surrey secured the win in style with a 9-1 finish to the game for their 10th league win of the season.

Hayden Lescault top scored with 21 points for the Rocks – who were without Neil Watson and Anthony Elechi – as their title hopes took a major dent this weekend.

Scorchers return to action this Friday evening with another trip north to the Manchester Giants – a 7.30pm tip-off which can be watched live on livebasketball.tv.
