Report: Scorchers defeat Giants on the road

Surrey Scorchers moved into the top eight with a 76-90 road win away at Manchester Giants, on Friday.

Surrey Scorchers moved into the top eight with a 76-90 road win away at Manchester Giants, on Friday.

Jordan Williams impressed with 23 points, 12 rebounds and five assists to help the Scorchers pick up their 11th league win in a strong second-half display.

The Giants had made a bright start with Yorick Williams leading his side with nine points as they established a 26-20 advantage.

The lead hit double figures at one stage in the second with Manchester still in control at the half-time break. Surrey were still eight behind at the mid-point in the third before producing a pivotal 13-0 spell to seize the initiative.

The Scorchers carried the momentum into the final period and stormed clear to complete a 14-point victory and move ahead of Bristol Flyers into the coveted eighth spot.

Callum Jones and Yorick Williams finished with 17 points apiece as the Giants drop to 4-22 in the league with their top eight hopes all but over.

Scorchers return to the Sports Park this Saturday for another key game in their BBL Play-Off chase when they welcome the Leeds Force to Guildford for a 7.30pm tip-off.
