A confident second half performance handed the Cheshire Phoenix a 104-74 win over the Surrey Scorchers on Sunday afternoon.
Scorchers hit the road for their 5th game in 9 days to close out a tough schedule of fixtures, with a roster hampered by illness and injury forcing 5 players to play more than 36mins each.
Quincy Taylor led the way with 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, while Danny Huffor and Kinu Rochford contributed big scores with 22 and 21 points respectively.
Cheshire scored 10 unanswered points early on, but the visitors responded well and took their first lead at 17-19. In the second, the home side went on a 14-3 run to begin to pull away only to be pegged back by the Scorchers once again as an 11-0 reply put them up by one.
However, 3-pointers from Taylor and David Aliu ensured Cheshire went into half-time with a lead and they continued the momentum when play resumed in the third. A dominant 19-5 spell saw Phoenix establish a 20+ cushion.
The lead soared above 30 points in the final quarter as the hosts moved into triple figures in style late on. Mike Anderson closed the game with back-to-back triples to finish with 24 points along with 10 rebounds as the Scorchers drop to 7-24.
Scorchers will now enjoy a well-earned 12 day break before heading to Sheffield on Friday 15th April to open their final weekend of the 2015/16 BBL Championship season.
